Two years have gone by since this film has been released and I strongly believe, now more than ever, that Infinity War is the best film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Yes, I said it. Better than Endgame too? Absolutely and that is no disrespect to Avengers: Endgame (which came out a year after Infinity War if you didn't know), it is a great film I must say. However, Infinity War? Boy oh boy, that was truly special.
First of all, if you haven't already watched this film then I'm not sure what you have been doing for the last two years. I would thoroughly recommend this film and I'm not just speaking as someone who's a fan of the famed franchise but also as someone who loves films, this has everything in it. Humour, sadness, suspense, some real surprises and more. The music and the way that the music is timed almost to perfection. This film is as gut wrenching as it is exciting to watch at times.
This has been ten years in the making. The penultimate, the grandeur of the franchise shall we say. This is what Marvel fans had been waiting for. The Russo Brothers really knocked this film out of the park as they stepped into the director's seat once more to wow and impress the fans yet again.
After his character was first introduced in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2012), Thanos finally stepped out of the shadows in order to fulfil his quest in getting all of the infinity stones to achieve his goal: balancing the universe. This man, the titan warrior, had no intentions of stopping and wasn’t going to let anything (and I mean anything) get in his way. He wasn't motivated by power, by greed, by fame. None of that, all he wanted to do was to 'save' the universe. Once you watch the film, you'll see that a normal person's definition of saving someone and Thanos' definition are indeed quite different. However, the 'Mad Titan' displays ruthlessness as he pursues the infinity stones; showing no mercy to anyone who steps in his way.
Then we have the Avengers. Their quest? Making sure that Thanos does not get his hands on all of the Infinity Stones. Why? It equals bad news. Very bad news I'm afraid. It's not just them trying to stop them either as they are accompanied by the Guardians of The Galaxy, Black Panther and Doctor Strange. Do you see how many people that were needed to take down one man? Do you see how crazy this Titan solider is? The man is a freak of nature. But we do see that our favourite heroes in this saga where the likes of Iron Man and Captain America are pushed to the absolute limit. Wait for the reintroduction of Thor because wow - that appearance was insane. If you've seen it, you will know exactly what I'm talking about (the cinema erupted like a football stadium when that happened).
For so long in the Marvel Cinematic Universe we have seen the Avengers embark on challenges where they emerge victorious. With some scratches on their head, everything somewhat returns back to normal. Infinity War changes that. Obliterates it even. The Avengers are having to deal with a threat that could put an end humanity and they are put to their wits end to save the universe. This is the first time you see them on the backfoot, struggling to get up. They don't look… super. I guess it makes the film so effective because you see them get put down and face a loss before they get back up to take that W in the following film (spoiler alert lol).
I recommend that you watch this film, but I also recommend that you watch everything else in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's so worth it. The journey, the laughs, the cries. It's worth it all
Till next time, my dear amigos.
